Tauranga man flown to Waikato Hospital after motorcycle crash

UPDATE 7.45pm: Waikato hospital confirmed the 30-year-old Tauranga man is still in critical condition in intensive care.

3.14pm: Police are seeking witnesses after a Tauranga man was flown by rescue helicopter to Waikato Hospital after a motorcycle crash.

The 30-year-old man came off his bike yesterday about 6.30pm on Lakes Boulevard, The Lakes.

He was flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter.

Police wanted to speak to any witnesses of the incident, including the driver of a white plumbers' van seen in the area.

Earlier: A Tauranga man has been flown by rescue helicopter to Waikato Hospital, after his condition deteriorated rapidly following a motorcycle crash.

The 30-year-old was initially rated as having moderate injuries when he arrived at Tauranga Hospital on Monday afternoon.

But staff realised he needed emergency surgery for head injuries.

He was flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter.
