Firefighters are battling a house fire in Hamilton after they were called to the property at 4.09pm today.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson said four fire appliances were currently at the scene on Galloway St in Hamilton East.

Nicholson said all the occupants of the house were outside and accounted for and no one was injured.

He did not know exactly how many people lived in the single-storey home.

The fire was well involved and a specialist fire investigator was on his way to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

An NZME reporter at the scene said firefighters had left the scene by 5.30pm, but the house appeared to be charred and damaged.
