A Northland dairy owner has been left with superficial head injuries after taking on a group who entered his store armed with a crowbar.
Police say the group of four entered this a dairy in Hikurangi this afternoon.
Upon seeing the offenders the dairy owner armed himself with a bat.
Following a scuffle the shop owner has received a superficial head injury, which did not require medical attention.
The group ran from the store without taking anything and were seen leaving in a blue car.
Police remain at the scene and investigations are continuing into the incident.
