A woman crashed into the back of a police car at a Waikato drive-through -- then abused the officer.

The officer breath-tested the woman and found she was more than three times over the legal alcohol limit.

The incident was posted on the Waikato Road Policing Team's Facebook page today, but it is not known when it happened.

The patrol car was not damaged, the post said.

The officer involved was a dog-handler who had gone to the drive-through of a "well-known food chain" at the end of a long day.

The story had 103 likes and reactions within an hour of posting.

Several commenters said the incident was "unbelievable" and others suggested the female driver was "not particularly intelligent".
