A person is dead after being hit by a train near Henderson train station this morning.
Auckland Transport communications manager Wally Thomas said a person was hit by a train at 10:26am.
St John ambulance spokesman Robbie Walker confirmed a person was found dead at the scene.
Police confirmed the death and said the matter will be referred to the Coroner.
Train services are stopped on the Western Line between Swanson and Henderson.
Robbie Walker said two ambulances attended after being alerted at 10:28am.
Wally Thomas said the incident occurred on the tracks near Mt Lebanon Ln and Great North Road, a short distance from Henderson station.
Delays were expected on the Western line.
Auckland Transport tweeted: "Western line services are terminating at Henderson due to an emergency services incident, rail buses operating between btwn Henderson & Swanson."
