Taranaki police are appealing to the public for sightings of a Waitara man wanted on violent charges.

Phillip Free Knuckey, 41, is described as Maori, around 180cm tall and of medium build.

He faces a string of violent charges, including threatening to kill, possession of an offensive weapon and assault with a weapon.

Mr Knuckey is said to be dangerous. Police believe he may be armed and are warning the public not to approach him.
