Auckland's Albany Highway reopened following armed police operation

A North Shore highway is reopened after armed police raided a suspected clan meth lab.

Police closed Albany Highway from Sunset Road to Upper Harbour Highway during rush hour this morning as they executed a search warrant at a property.

No further details of the pre-dawn operation were available.

Auckland Transport said the road was now clear to travel on but people using the affected roads could still expect delays.

The main highway through the northern suburb was reopened just after 7.15am.

Meanwhile, traffic is backing up on Auckland's Southern Motorway after a crash.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said the crash was blocking the left lane southbound after the Takanini on-ramp. Motorists should expect delays from Hill Rd.
