Two people are in a moderate condition after their car rolled onto its roof in Otago due to ice on the road.

Police were called to Omakau-Chatto Creek Rd in Otago at 1.10pm today where it appeared the crash occurred.

"It looks as though there was sheets on ice on the road," a police spokesman said.

Police confirmed one occupant was a female and both were out of the car waiting for ambulance to arrive.

An ambulance spokeswoman said the two occupants' injuries were minor.
