Lotto's latest millionaires celebrated with takeaways when they learned they had last Saturday's winning ticket.
The Cromwell grandparents, who wished to remain anonymous, couldn't believe their luck when they checked their ticket at the supermarket.
Their first division win, from a ticket bought at Cromwell New World, netted them $1 million.
"We splashed out on our favourite takeaways for dinner that night - after all, who wants to cook when you've just become millionaires," one of the winners said.
The pair had no idea that they were carrying around a ticket worth $1 million until they popped out to do the grocery shopping.
"My wife was picking up the shopping and thought she may as well check our Lotto ticket at the same time - the first we knew about the win was when 'Major Prize Winner' flashed up on the screen.
"She raced straight home, burst through the door and flicked this little slip of paper towards me. As soon as I picked it up I saw all those zeros - so many zeros. I couldn't believe it, we were both bouncing off the walls," they said.
Now they're eyeing up buying their own home.
"We've always dreamed of buying a home of our own and are so excited that we can finally begin hunting for our family home. It really is a dream come true, we couldn't be happier."
The winners are the 17th Kiwis to become instant millionaires through Lotto so far this year.
