A car has flipped on an Auckland motorway this afternoon, injuring one passenger and causing traffic congestion.
Emergency services are at the scene of a single car crash on the Southwestern Motorway in Mt Roskill, said Waitemata Senior Sergeant James Bothamley.
He said the crash was initially reported to police as a two vehicle collision but that was incorrect.
The driver of a Rav 4 had crashed into a barrier shortly before 1pm, he said.
A passing motorist sent photos of the crash to the Herald, that showed one car on its roof near the Maioro St exit.
Fire, police and ambulance were all at the scene, where one lane was closed for about an hour.
Mr Bothamley said the patient was in a status 3, moderate, condition and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Other motorists reported heavy traffic in the area following the crash, but that was expected to clear after 2pm.
