Police are looking for a 37-year-old man after he shot a woman in the leg in a central Auckland apartment.
Bradley Mark Johns is wanted by police on charges of careless use of a firearm causing bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm.
In December last year a 29-year-old woman was shot in the leg inside a room at the Auckland Harbour Oaks hotel.
She was discharged from hospital and was still recovering from her injury.
Johns was identified from forensic evidence found during the scene examination and CCTV footage obtained by police, a statement said.
He was believed to be actively evading police.
Johns was from the Northland area but was known to travel often to Auckland.
He is described as having a large build, approximately 177cms tall.
He has several tattoos on his arms, including Bob Marley on his right shoulder.
Anyone who knows where Bradley Johns is or has seen him should call 111 immediately.
Police advise the public not to approach the man.
Information can also be given anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
