A minor car crash has caused major delays for commuters into Wellington this morning.
Traffic on busy State Highway 2 from Hutt Valley is crawling as travel times triple.
Shortly before 7am there was a three-car crash before the Ngauranga interchange on the southbound section of the highway.
A police spokesman said those involved suffered minor injuries and the scene took a while to clear.
An 8am update from the NZ Transport Agency said trips from Belmont to the CBD were taking more than 90 minutes.
Normally, it would take about 30 minutes in peak traffic.
Transport officials are asking motorists to delay their travel if possible.
