An 18-year-old man has been injured after shots were fired during an argument over a front-end loader in Northland last night.

Police were called to the scene at 8.50pm and seized guns after shots were fired at a vehicle in Houhora.

The 18-year-old was taken to Kaitaia Hospital to be treated for superficial injuries, and a 47-year-old man is being questioned by police.

The incident is not believed to be gang related.
