Southland river searched for missing 69-year-old man

Searchers are scouring a Southland river for a missing 69-year-old man.

Neil William Stirling is believed to be missing at Glenham after his vehicle was found near the Mokoreta River, about 5km southeast of Wyndham.

Police, land search and rescue volunteers and a whitewater kayak expert searched for him today.

The police national dive squad will travel to Southland tomorrow to carry out a water search.

Police ask anyone who may have seen Mr Stirling to contact them on 03 211 0400.
