An iconic New Zealand ute used in Toyota's 1984 Barry Crump and Scotty advertising campaign is up for grabs on Trade Me.
The yellow ute with black and red stripes featured in a series of adverts run by the motor vehicle company where Barry Crump and Scotty were shown putting it through its paces. The adverts were made up until 1996, the year Mr Crump died.
The ute was listed for sale on Trade Me on March 21 and has been viewed more than 16,000 times. It has an asking price of $25,000.
The advert said the vehicle was a "serious opportunity for a collector".
"The Ute is in original untouched condition showing its age and patina with significant rust around A pillars etc as shown in photos. The chassis and running gear is in excellent condition and has been serviced and restored which included all new brakes, drums, discs etc., suspension, joints, swivel hubs rebuilt, radiator, and clutch," it read. "She absolutely hums along."
It said the ute had been the 33rd to be built off production line in 1983 and came with a special surprise for its new owner - "a complete with a copy of NZ Top Gear magazine who did a 5 page spread on the Ute back in 2012".
The ute has clocked up 121,000km and carries a four cylinder, 2000cc engine.
