The Porirua Park Stadium has been renamed after former All Black Jerry Collins in an emotional ceremony this morning.

The 34-year-old died in a car crash in France in June last year. His partner Alana Madill died and his 3-month-old daughter Ayla Collins was injured but survived.

The venue will now be known as the Jerry Collins Stadium and a plaque has been unveiled in his honour.

Collins was raised in Porirua and played for the Northern United Rugby Club.

Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett, members of the Collins family, Ngati Toa and Northern United attended the ceremony. Club members performed a haka.
