Police have confirmed two people were stabbed during a fight in Christchurch early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Warrington St, in Edgeware, about 3.30am after reports of a fight involving several people, Detective Sergeant Colin Baillie said.

Two people suffered stab wounds and were taken to hospital, where they were this afternoon in a stable condition.

The street was cordoned off this morning while police examined the scene.

Three ambulances were dispatched to treat the injured people.

Police appealed to anyone with information to contact them on (03) 363 7400 or to call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
