Flockton residents n flood-affected regions are under no obligation to sell land to the Christchurch City Council.

Seven Flockton residents are under no obligation to sell their flood-prone properties to the council.

The council believes its 48-million-dollar Dudley Flood Mitigation Scheme may not be enough to stop the properties from flooding. It's working with home owners on three possible options.. localised draining work, house raising or selling their land.

The land will be sold as a way for the council to recoup its costs. Land drainage manager Keith Davison says the money will come from the council's budget.
