Police are investigating a hit-and-run in the Dunedin suburb of St Kilda today that injured a motorbike rider.

The crash happened on the corner of Bay View Rd and King Edward St at 8.45am.

Police said they received a report of an early 90s dark red Ford Falcon reversing into a stationary motorbike.

The vehicle was reportedly driven by a woman, who turned left into King Edward St heading towards the South Dunedin shops.

The motorbike rider suffered bruising as a result of the crash.

Police are appealing for anyone that may have witnessed the crash, or the driver of the vehicle, to contact police on (03) 471-4800.

Witnesses could also pass information on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
