Police are appealing for sightings of a red Toyota Hilux ute after a fatal crash in Northland.

Anne Talijancich, 43, a passenger in the ute, was killed when it partially left the road and crashed into a bridge at Te Kopuru, about 30km south of Dargaville, shortly before 4pm on Saturday.

Her 2-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter, who were also in the car, were taken to Auckland's Starship Hospital. The girl remains in hospital in a serious condition and the boy is in a stable condition.

The 44-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.

Anyone who saw the ute on Saturday is asked to call Dargaville police on 09 439 3400.
