A man threatened a woman at knife-point and threw a bottle at a police officer after police called to a burning car found a firearm today in Clyde.
The drama, which left an officer with minor injuries, unfolded about 11.30am. A 29-year-old Dunedin man is now facing a number of charges.
Police were called to a vehicle on fire in Miner's Lane, Clyde where a firearm was located.
Enquiries later established that the driver of the vehicle was at an address in nearby Sunderland Street.
"Upon police arrival at the address the man threatened a woman with a knife," police said in a statement.
"Police negotiated with the man for a short time before he attempted to leave the property. When confronted by police the man threw a stubby beer bottle at a police officer, causing a minor injury to the police officer."
The woman threatened by the man was known to him, and was not injured.
Police inquiries into the incident are still being completed.
The arrested man will appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.
