A man was airlifted to hospital with neck and back injuries after his car rolled in the Tasman region this afternoon.
The 46-year-old's vehicle was badly damaged, including a shattered windscreen, when it crashed off State Highway 6 near Korere, southwest of Nelson.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene, in the lower Clark Valley.
The man was assessed and treated by the on-board intensive-care paramedic before being flown to hospital in a stable condition.
Another person in the car was uninjured.
A short time later, the helicopter was called to Wharariki Beach near Farewell Spit, where a 30-year-old from Wellington had badly injured his lower leg while swimming.
His wife helped him from the beach on to an access track, where he was located by the helicopter crew and airlifted to Nelson Hospital.
