A man was stabbed and forced to drive his car to two ATMs.
Two men went to his home in Christchurch and confronted him with two weapons at 5am today.
"They forced him to take his vehicle to two ATMs before going to a petrol station where the victim was able to run off," detective constable Luke Vaughan said.
The victim, who knew the men, was treated at Christchurch Hospital for minor stab wounds and is expected to be discharged later today.
Mr Vaughan said police were looking for a stolen silver 1989 Jaguar Sovereign with the registration GAN945.
The vehicle was found this morning thanks to a "sharp-eyed" business owner in Temuka who contacted police after the stolen Jaguar was towed to the Temuka Challenge Service Station.
Detective senior sergeant Greg Cottam said the business owner contacted police as he was suspicious of the two teenagers in such a distinctive car.
"They two teens have been taken into custody without incident and are being interviewed by police," Mr Cottam said.
"This is another great example of members of the public working together with police to keep our communities safe".
Police want to speak to the driver of the vehicle that towed the car.
