Footage released in hunt for burglar

Christchurch police have released security footage to try to identify a masked man who burgled a city bar yesterday morning.

The man, wearing a balaclava and distinctive tartan bandanna, entered the rear of the Sideline Sports Bar on Stanmore Rd at 8.20am.

A staff member was in the bar, but was uninjured, police said.

The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.Detective Constable Brent Menzies today said investigations were continuing.

CCTV footage has been reviewed and police are seeking the public's help in identifying the person of interest in the released footage.

"Anyone who knows who this person is or saw them in the area yesterday should call Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400," Mr Menzies said.
