The sister of a Turangi teenager killed in a serious crash in the town on Monday has posted an emotional online tribute to her "handsome brother".
Orlando Bell, 19, was the rear seat passenger in Subaru Impreza that collided with a tree on Te Rangi Tautahanga Rd about 4pm. The driver and front-seat passenger remain in hospital.
Mr Bell died in Waikato Hospital on Tuesday night and shortly after his sister Shara Bell posted a tribute on her Facebook page.
"Love you forever and always my handsome brother forever and ever to the stars and the moon x a million katrillion," she wrote.
Ms Bell said she was lost for words.
"This isn't the way it should've been, you fought a tough battle... but the Lord saw you a worthy soldier to enter into his kingdom," she wrote.
"You should of been here to make me some beautiful nieces and nephews and see your future nieces and nephews. I could go on and on about the way things should've been. But they're not that way, and for that I am truly let down."
Many others posted messages remembering their mate, with one saying: "Rest easy dos gone but will never forget our big teddy bear."
A public notice said Mr Bell's body would be taken to Pohara Marae and then to Waitekoko Marae. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and want to hear from any witnesses, or anyone who has other information that may be relevant.
