Police investigating a body found in a Christchurch house today are treating the death as suspicious.
The man's body was found by a friend at a Linwood address just before midday.
The man was not formally identified but police believed he occupied the house.
Detective Inspector Tony Hill said the death was treated as being suspicious.
"It is early stages for the investigation and we are still trying to piece together what has occurred," he said.
"The address is being guarded and it is expected the scene examination will commence later today."
Police have begun to interview people known to the man.
Fifteen police staff were working on the investigation.
They would focus on people who had been in contact with the victim leading up to his death.
