A body has been recovered from the Waitemata Harbour today, police have confirmed.
The body is yet to be formally identified, but police have been searching the area for missing Indian student Mandeep Singh.
Auckland Police district commander, Superintendent Richard Chambers confirmed just after 2pm that crew aboard Police launch Deodar located a body.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Marcia Murray said on Friday the search in central Auckland had failed to provide any further lines of inquiry into what happened to the 20-year-old student last Sunday.
"Police do now know that Mandeep was seen on a pier in Queens Wharf just after 4am on Sunday morning and was alone at the time," she said.
"So, at this stage, unless further information is received, we are not treating his disappearance as suspicious."
Police said the matter would now be referred to the coroner.
Mr Singh, a culinary arts student from India, went clubbing with three flatmates in the early hours of Sunday morning before they lost contact with him in the Bungalow 8 nightclub at the Viaduct Harbour about 3am.
A police dive squad searched the Viaduct area this week but did not find Mr Singh.
