Wellingtonians are poking fun at their city's bus drivers after a minor crash on the capital's main entertainment strip.
An Airport Flyer bus appears to have driven close to the kerb and struck a bollard on Courtenay Place this afternoon, ripping up bricks on the footpath.
A photo of the incident, shared on Reddit with the title "Great example of Wellington's bus drivers", has been viewed almost 1200 times and attracted a handful of mocking comments.
"Bus driver was only trying to make a little step up for the elderly," wrote one Reddit user.
"Must have mistaken the bollard for a pedestrian," wrote another.
Others on Reddit defended the capital's bus drivers.
"To be fair there are some fantastic bus drivers in Wellington. Not all of them are rubbish."
The council's infrastructure also attracted praise.
"On the plus side, whoever installed that bollard did a pretty solid job."
Bus operator NZ Bus was not immediately available for comment.
