Police will not be drawn on the details of man's death in South Auckland today.
A man was found dead in a house on Waimana Rd in Conifer Grove about 3pm.
In a statement, police said "no one else" was being sought in connection with the death and that no further details would be released tonight.
Northern Communication Centre Shift Inspector Andy Brill said he "did not have to" tell the Herald if the death was suspicious, if someone had already been taken into police custody or why no further information would be given.
The house where the body was found was cordoned off and a scene guard was in place.
A mobile police station truck arrived at the house about 7.30pm.
Officers appeared to be working inside the large truck and inside the house.
An officer in charge of the scene would also not be drawn on any details.
Neighbours said they had not been told what happened but believed a man and woman lived at the address.
The man was friendly, said one neighbour who wished not to be named.
Another neighbour said the man's rubbish bins had been outside his gate for "a long time".
The house is opposite a number of industrial businesses, and workers were seen speaking with police officers this afternoon.
