Two men have been arrested for allegedly dealing drugs from a Warkworth motel after locals in the close-knit community raised concerns with police.
Police said officers from across the Rodney area conducted a search warrant at the motel yesterday.
They arrested two men, aged 23 and 40, who both appeared in court today charged with Class A drug dealing offences.
A police investigation was launched after members of the local community raised concerns about the activities of certain residents at the motel over the past few months.
Police said they were now working closely with the motel managers to prevent such incidents in the future. A number of occupants were also evicted.
Rodney Area Commander Inspector Mark Fergus said small, tight-knit communities like Warkworth had no tolerance for drug dealing in their town.
"There was a regular flow of information from community members that enabled detectives to build up a picture of the illegal activities and to secure evidence.
"I know that the residents were pleased to see Police vehicles at the motel yesterday and I encourage the community to continue reporting suspicious activity."
