Two injured people have been freed from a car after a two-vehicle crash in central Wellington tonight.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the corner of Kent Terrace and Pirie St about 8.20pm.
A Fire Service spokesman said two people, initially trapped in their car, were extricated by firefighters.
He said one person with moderate injuries and another with minor injuries were now in the care of the Wellington Free Ambulance.
An NZME News Service reporter at the scene said a green hatchback appeared to be wrapped around a traffic light pole at the intersection.
A red van believed to have been involved in the crash was parked around the corner.
The crash on the busy arterial route had attracted a crowd of onlookers.
Two fire trucks, an ambulance and ambulance vehicles were at the scene.
