To all those people who think it's okay to smoke in public places, then litter: Stop ruining the atmosphere for other people and at least throw the smoke in the bin. Then smokers get on buses and spread their breath-stopping disgusting smell.

Good Samaritans do exist in Auckland. I was at the checkout at Farro Fresh in Grey Lynn on Sunday with a big load of groceries when I realised I had forgotten my wallet. A moment of panic followed. A complete stranger came up and offered to pay for my groceries and I could transfer the money into her bank account later. Isn't that amazing? Thank you Claris for your trust and kindness. Everyone I have told this story to can't believe it.

What annoys me are the op shops that trade as charity shops when they are part-charity shops. Often only 10 per cent, or slightly more, of the takings go to the charity, the rest to the owner. This also applies to the plastic bags we are invited to fill for charity. There is nothing wrong with having a second-hand shop, but be honest.

Huge thumbs up to Lydia Ko with her gesture of donating whatever she wins at the North Texas Shootout to earthquake relief in Nepal. Lydia is a phenomenal golfer and a lovely person.

I'm trying to get an existing phone number transferred 1.6km away in Mt Eden. I booked the transfer date five weeks ago and after numerous long phone calls I still have no connection. For two weeks their call centre has had unexpected loadings - a minimum of 30 minutes' wait. With today's technology this is unbelievable - go Vodafone!

Sincere thanks to a very kind employee at Schnapper Rock Cemetery, who helped us find a remembrance stone. Armed with a map, we were unable to do so, and were about to give up, when he escorted us to the spot.
