A second teenage boy has been arrested in relation to Friday's fatal shooting in Hamilton, after he surrendered himself to police this morning.
Detective Inspector Karl Thornton, said following the arrest of a 17-year-old Mana Williams by armed police at a Hamilton house last night, a second 17-year-old man surrendered himself to police this morning.
The man has been charged with murder, and is due to appear in Hamilton District Court today.
Williams, who has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, threatening to kill and possession of an offensive weapon, appeared in Hamilton District Court this morning.
Mr Thornton said police were still continuing with their investigation into the death of Michael Thompson.
"A large area canvas and search of surrounding properties, gullies, bush and waterways remains to be done and we would ask local residents to be vigilant and report anything unusual they may find."
Mr Thornton said this included items such as clothing, potential weapons or other items that appear out of place.
He said anyone who found any items should leave them alone and contact police immediately on 111.
