Police are today focusing attention on the flat 33 year-old Hayden Cossey was living in before he disappeared.
The Christchurch man has not been seen since December 5.
This morning, more than 60 police and civil defence staff covered the city's eastern suburbs looking for Mr Cossey, who was last seen at Eastgate shopping mall on December 5.
Mr Cossey was described as European, 187cm tall (about 6' 1") of medium build with short brown hair.
Mr Cossey moved to Christchurch a few weeks ago to take up work with Mercer Stainless related to the earthquake rebuild.
Yesterday, Detective Sergeant Al Lester said Police were keeping an open mind about what may have happened to Mr Cossey.
Mr Cossey left work on Friday December 5 around half an hour after arriving at 7.15am. His family reported him missing two days later.
Since then, Canterbury police have interviewed his family, his two flat mates and witnesses who reported possible sightings of Mr Cossey in an effort to narrow down a potential search area.
An aerial search also covered areas of open land and watercourses.
