An investigation is under way into the death of a man at a fun park in Northland last night.
The man, aged in his 50s, died after falling around 10m from a flying fox ride, believed to have been at AE Fun Park on Hayward Rd, south of Whangarei.
WorkSafe New Zealand has launched an investigation into what happened.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Maungakaramea at around 5.45pm, St John territory manager Mark Going said last night.
Two advanced paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man, who was in cardiac arrest as the result of the fall, but were unsuccessful.
AE Fun Park declined to comment last night.
According to its website, the 500m flying fox is the longest in Northland and the third longest in the country. It reaches a top speed of 80kph.
A spokesman for WorkSafe NZ said it had been notified of the incident and was investigating.
