At least five people have been injured in a house fire in Waiuku.

Fire service shift inspector Scott Osmond said staff received several calls about the blaze on Koromiko Place around 11pm.

The five occupants managed to get out, he said.

Details were scarce but at least one child had burns to their hand and a cut to the head.

Three people were treated for smoke inhalation and one had a cut on their leg.

None of the patients appeared to be in a serious condition, Mr Osmond said.

When staff arrived the house was well alight. At least two fire appliances attended.
