A person is dead and seven injured following a caravan and house fire at Invercargill early today.
Emergency Services were called to the property on Bluff Highway near Kew Road at Invercargill just before 5am, southern fire communications shift manger Rewai Grace said.
The fire service arrived to a caravan fully alight and the blaze had spread to a neighbouring house.
Southern ambulance communications shift manger Paul Burn said one person had died, but it was not known if the person was in the caravan or house.
Seven others were taken to Invercargill Hospital with minor injuries, he said.
Mr Rewai said five appliances were sent to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Fire investigators will head to the scene today to try to determine the cause.
