A man is dead following a three-vehicle crash in New Plymouth this morning.
Police said the crash occurred just before 7.30am at the intersection of Egmont and Bishop Roads, and involved a large truck, car and motorcycle.
The man who died was behind the wheel of the car. He was the sole occupant, police said.
"At this stage it is too early to determine what caused the crash but we are speaking with witnesses at the scene to get a clearer picture of what has happened. The scene has been cordoned off and the serious crash unit will conduct a scene examination," Sergeant George White of the New Plymouth Traffic Safety Group said.
Both the truck driver and the motorcyclist were uninjured.
Diversions around the crash site were expected to remain in place for the next few hours.
Details of the dead man would not be released until his next of kin were informed and formal identification had been completed, police said.
