A man accused of attacking an Auckland mother on her daily walk was remanded in custody when he appeared in court today.
Lual Makur Lual, 26, was to have appeared in Manukau District Court on Friday but didn't show up.
Police arrested him at the weekend and laid a charge of failing to appear, in addition to charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against Praveet Singh and a charge of common assault against a different person on the same day.
Police opposed bail when he appeared in court today and he was remanded in custody to appear again later this month.

Ms Singh, 40, was on her regular walk near her home in Papatoetoe on January 16 when she was set upon in the street. The attack left the mother-of-two with fractured eye sockets and a broken nose.
She said at the time that people watched as the beating continued. One had pushed her back towards her attacker.
Ms Singh told APNZ last week she was "recovering quite well" from her injuries, although the broken eye sockets could take some time to come right.
