A flasher at a Coromandel beach has been nabbed after police posed as holidaymakers.

Sergeant Brendon Bland of the Cooks Beach Public Safety Team said the two young women were approached by a man who exposed himself near Lonely Beach on Sunday.

Mr Bland said prompt, accurate information provided by the two victims helped police arrest a man yesterday.

"Police were able to place staff in the area looking like innocent holidaymakers enjoying the summer at the beach yesterday,'' Mr Bland said.

"Subsequently we apprehended a 41-year-old local man who we are now speaking to in relation to this and a number of similar historic complaints.''

Anyone with information on similar types of offending should contact the Whitianga Police on (07) 858 6200.
