One man was taken to hospital overnight after a car, which was believed to be stolen, crashed into a power pole in Auckland.
Police are investigating the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Mount Albert Road and Mount Royal Avenue in Mt Albert at about 1am.
Police Northern Communications shift inspector Steve Kose said one passenger was taken to Auckland Hospital, initially in a serious condition.
His condition has since improved and he is due to be released shortly.
The driver of the car, also male, ran from the crash but later presented himself to hospital uninjured, Mr Kose said.
A third male occupant was treated at the scene for injuries.
Mr Kose said it was not yet known whether alcohol was involved, or whether the three men were wearing seat belts.
"We suspect the car was stolen,'' he said
Ambulance and fire services also attended the crash.
A fire services spokesman said the power pole involved had been badly damaged and needed to be replaced.
Electrical workers were currently on site repairing the it.
Police also advised Mount Albert road would be closed for several hours. Diversions have been put in place at:
* Mount Albert Road and Summit Drive.
* Mount Albert Road & Mt Royal Avenue
