A blaze which tore through a house and car in Tokoroa this morning is being treated as suspicious.

The three-bedroom, single-storey home on John St was well ablaze when volunteer firefighters arrived shortly after receiving multiple calls about 10.50am.

A Fire Service northern communications spokesman said nobody was reported injured and the fire was put out by crews from two firefighting units.

The fire was being treated as suspicious and fire safety officers were investigating.
