Police name man killed in crash near Gisborne

Police have released the name of a young man who died in a crash on State Highway 35 north of Gisborne on Tuesday.

Jonathan Brown, 18, a forestry worker of Gisborne, was thrown from a ute when it left the highway and rolled down a steep bank.

A 41-year-old man in the vehicle suffered moderate to serious injuries in the crash and remained in Gisborne Hospital in a comfortable condition.

Police are still investigating the crash.
