A pilot has walked away from a plane crash north of Auckland.

The light aircraft came down close to Parakai, Helensville, this afternoon.

It is not yet known how many were on board the Cessna plane, but the Fire Service said no-one was injured in the crash.

Eye witnesses reported seeing a plane struck in trees, close to SH16.

Emergency services are still at the scene.

The Civil Aviation Authority has been contacted, police said.
