Police have confirmed that a body discovered in New Plymouth is that of missing teenager Nikolao Meafua.

The 16-year-old was last seen on June 10 after he left his Bell Block home following an argument with his mother.

Emergency services were called by a member of the public yesterday at 2.30pm after a body was found on rocks near New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway - opposite Kawaroa Aquatic Centre.

A police spokeswoman today confirmed the body was that of Nikolao.

His family had been informed.

The death was not being treated as suspicious and had been referred to the coroner.
