A top police officer being investigated for an alleged assault is back on the board of trustees of a school.
Inspector Richard Wilkie, the Manurewa area commander, has been a board member since 2010 at Macleans College, which his daughter attends.
In this year's election he was one of seven nominees for seven seats and no vote was needed.
Counties Manukau district commander John Tims confirmed criminal and employment investigations related to an incident on April 2.
"The incident involved an off-duty police officer. The incident is being independently investigated by a senior police officer from outside Counties Manukau district," he said.
"The police officer concerned has been put on alternative duties until the investigation has concluded," he said.
This week, a police spokeswoman could give no indication of when inquiries will be concluded.
The new school trustee boards will take office on Thursday.
