The body of a missing Nelson woman has been recovered from the Pelorus River.

Jasmine Gotty, 24, went missing on Tuesday night.

Police and Search and Rescue volunteers recovered her body downstream of the river near Totara Flat just after 2pm yesterday. It was formally identified and her next of kin were notified.

A post-mortem examination would be conducted later this morning, police said.

The site where her body was found had been blessed by a kaumatua.

A police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Miss Gotty's death is continuing.
