Firefighters are battling a blaze at an architecture firm in Upper Queen St this afternoon.
Four fire engines have been fighting the fire for over an hour, which began in a transformer in the basement of the building at 65-67 Upper Queen St in Eden Terrace, fire services communication manager Megan Ruru said.
The building was evacuated and there have been no reports of injuries.
Ms Ruru said they did not know when the fire would be brought under control.
Vector had turned power off to the area and about five traffic lights were out.
Power was cut to 600 Vector customers, but was back up for all but 200 within an hour and a half. Five customers in the immediate area are still without power at this stage.
Auckland Transport said the fire has interrupted central city bus services, with delays for all buses travelling via Karangahape Rd, Symonds St and Grafton Bridge expected to last well into the evening.
