A Rotorua man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non parole period of 12 years for the murder of Polish man Roman Skorek in Kuirau Park earlier this year.

He was sentenced in the High Court at Rotorua this afternoon by Justice Mary Peters.

Samuel was jointly charged with William Karauna Edwards, 15, Leslie McKay Glen, 14, and Simon Meka Herewini, 20, who have all pleaded not guilty to murder.

Their trial is set for the High Court at Rotorua on February 11.
