The Northland Armed Offenders Squad has been stood down after being sent by helicopter from Whangarei to an incident in the Far North this morning.
Inspector Kerry Watson of police northern communications said the AOS was deployed to an address south of Kaitaia about 8.30am but was stood down after Far North police visited the address.
"We received several reports of someone armed with a firearm, and we're speaking to two people at the moment," Mr Watson said.
No other information was available.
